I’m adding a 23″ by 12″ deck out back, and if I buy my suppies from Home Depot, how many of Home Depot’s employees will help me build this thing?

Answer:
Based on the experiences I’ve had with HD staff, you wouldn’t want them helping with your deck. When HD first came to town, they hired all trades people. As a way to cut costs, they got rid of them and replaced them with people who don’t know which end of a hammer to hold. I needed a replacement cabinet door, and went in there with the model number of the cabinet and the EXACT size of the door. When I got the right door, after 3 tries, it didn’t even come with hinges, even thought they changed the style they use. If you have any friends or family that have carpentry experience, call in some favors. Decks are easy to build, and with a crew of about 4 you can knock that out in a day (not counting footings). Hope this helps.
